University of Idaho Foreign Films – will present “THE BAND’S VISIT,” on October 27 and 28, at 7 PM and 9:30 PM.  This is a French-Israeli production that was nominated for an Academy Award.  Synopsis:  A band comprised of members of the Egyptian police force head to Israel to play at the inaugural ceremony of an Arab arts center, only to find themselves lost in the wrong town.  A night of quiet happenings and confessions follows as the band makes its own impact on the town and the town on them.  In Arabic, English and Hebrew, with English subtitles.  Films are shown at the Borah Theatre in the UI Student Union Building.  For more information, see www.sub.uidaho/ForeignFilms.   In addition, the Moscow Public Library has a copy of this movie on video.

The JCP will have a Sukkot Party at the home of Bruce and Erica Austin, 2852 Banner Road, in Pullman on Sunday, October 19, between Noon and 2:00 PM.  This will be a potluck, so please bring a dish to share.  You can concentrate on bringing “fall harvest” fruits and vegetables to celebrate the season.  The JCP will provide paper products, utensils and juice.
